Rachel graduated from the University of California, Davis, where she majored in Philosophy with the aspiration of pursuing a legal career. Following her undergraduate studies, she took a year off to work in the legal field and prepare for law school. She eventually accepted the Anthony Kennedy Scholarship at McGeorge School of Law.
During her time at McGeorge, Rachel took advantage of her location in the California capital by completing a Capitol Lawyering Concentration and externing at the California Department of Justice in the Office of Legislative Affairs. Her interest in legislation led her to participate in McGeorge’s publication of the 2020 California Initiative Review, focusing much of her work on bail reform.
Rachel eventually found her passion for criminal law at the Sacramento Public Defender’s Office where she spent a year as a legal intern. Following her graduation from McGeorge, Rachel spent two years with the Santa Barbara Public Defender’s office as a misdemeanor trial attorney. She learned a great deal about being a zealous advocate for the indigent community and honing her skills as a litigator.
Rachel grew up in the California Central Valley, calling Stockton and Sacramento home for much of her life. Now she lives in the beautiful Central Coast being spoiled by Santa Barbara weather. In her personal time, Rachel enjoys attending live music events, reading fiction novels, and spending time with her pets.
