Julio Nieto was born in Miami in 1995, to two Venezuelan immigrants. His hispanic heritage molded his reasoning in fighting for justice. He is a first generation child, shaped by the melting pot of diverse culture that one can only experience in Miami.
As a child, he would stay at home on Saturday evenings with his grandmother and watch Sabado Gigante together. During the commercial breaks, a commercial for an attorney, Robert Rubenstein, would play and he would end the ad with the words, “Yo quiero ser tu abogado.” That effort to speak in Spanish and remind the people watching that he was willing to fight, regardless of where they were from, resonated with him. His grandmother would tell Julio, “Tu vas ser mi abogado.” His grandfather would also tell Julio’s parents that he was going to be a lawyer.
Julio was an intern for the Dallas County Public Defender’s Office for over two years, and an attorney with the office for over three years. He learned that the system is designed to wear down the accused, so he decided that he would not let the system win. He has tried cases ranging from criminal trespass to terroristic threat. He ended his time with the Public Defender’s Office with the most trials in his division. He knows the ins and out of Dallas County, and strives everyday to fight, and ensures that he will represent any client in a holistic manner, to get the best possible outcome everytime.
