George Rosenstock received his Bachelor of Science (majoring in Mathematics) from City College of New York (1971) and his Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve University School of Law (1974), where he was a member of the winning team in the National Moot Court and published in the Law Review (1975). He joined the Kings County District Attorney’s Office (Brooklyn, N.Y.) as an Assistant District Attorney (1978), and later as a Senior Assistant District Attorney, rising to the Homicide Bureau, where he presided over approximately 50 jury trials as a prosecutor. From the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, he joined the U.S. Department of Justice as a Special Attorney (1985) assigned to the Organized Crime Strike Force in Los Angeles, where he worked with colleagues to investigate and prosecute a RICO criminal trial in the Central District of California, targeting illegal lending operations in Southern California. After a period in private practice with the prominent law firm Pillsbury Madison & Sutro in the Commercial Litigation and Creditors’ Rights Sections, he returned to public service by joining the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, where he served from 1995 to 2000, again presiding over approximately 50 jury trials as a prosecutor. After a second period in private practice, he returned to criminal law as a criminal defense attorney, joining The Matian Firm in March 2017, where he assumed the title of Senior Attorney. He has also published a number of articles in the Los Angeles Daily Journal (see, for example, “Reevaluating the Use of Plea Bargaining Frameworks in California,” June 6, 2018; “Status of U Visa Applications and Brady Compliance,” July 5, 2018).
